On the 8th and 9th of May a spring event takes place in Hällefors. Artists around Hällefors open up the doors of their studios for public.

Artists staying in the EuropeanArtists residency participate in this event.

Spring 2010 the Japanese artist and designer Noriko Kitazumi from Tokyo works in the artist-in-residency EuropeanArtists.tv in Hällefors (Furåsskolan Långvästen).

Noriko Kitazumi began to study calligraphy at the age of 6.

In her first exhibition she won second prize in the Japanese Calligraphy Exhibition of the year competition, and by the age of 12 she had already reached level 8, the highest rank in calligraphy.

When Noriko was 23 years old, she graduated from Calligraphy Master School as a Master Calligrapher, qualifying with excellent results.

Today she has produced over 50 prize-winning pieces.

Calligraphy originally came from China and was adopted into Japanese culture.

Normally it is written with a calligraphy brush, using black ink on white paper.

However, Kouyou thought it would be interesting to use different ideas that do not

necessarily follow this tradition to create her own unique style.

EuropeanArtists.tv arranges art projects in Holland and in Sweden. Last February the international Ice & Fire Art Festival Isflamma was initiated in Grythyttan, with participating artists from 10 countries around the world!

In Holland EuropeanArtists.tv co-initiated the SART project: SART creates studios for artists and designers in former barns in the Dutch countryside / SART initiates art projects as SART&Science, in which artists and scientists are working together with smart materials and new technology / SART initiates the new "Country&Love" art project in Holland, Sweden and England.

The doors are open from 11:00 till 17:00.
