Isflamma 2010!
International ice & fire art festival, Grythyttan, Sweden
The first edition of the International ice & fire art festival Isflamma took place at the beautiful Grythyttan badplats, between the 5th and the 21st of February 2010. An impressive sculpture park was built with about 50 ice sculptures, an ice chapel and an ice restaurant. On the 20th of February a couple from Grythyttan got married in the ice chapel, designed by the Italian artist Duilio Forte. It was an unforgettable fairy tale in a snowstorm! The famous Måltidens Hus served a delicious "Bergslagens Paella" in the ice restaurant with a view over the froozen lake in a coulored sunset. Isflamma 2010 had about 80 participants: 40 professional artists and art students (from Sweden, Norway, Latvia, Germany, Holland, England, Belgium, Italy, USA en Japan) and 40 people living in the Bergslagens region. During the festival about 2500 spectators visited the festival, including 8 schoolclasses from Grythyttan and Hällefors, who had guided tours arranged by our volunteers. Thanks to all artists, volunteers and partners we can look back upon an inspiring and succesful art festival with high quality and with high potential for the future.
